INSTA HARBOR
Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 5, 2026
Insta Harbor is a browser extension that helps users download photos, videos, Reels, carousel media, Stories and Highlights from Instagram pages they visit. This policy explains what information the extension processes and why.
Information processed on your device
The extension reads supported Instagram pages to identify media selected by the user and add download controls. Media files and Instagram sign-in credentials are not sent to Insta Harbor servers. Download preferences, folder settings and minimal operational state are stored locally through browser extension storage.
Telemetry and error reports
Insta Harbor sends limited telemetry needed to understand feature usage and improve reliability:
- installation and update events;
- visits to supported extension areas and download actions;
- the number of items involved and the feature area used;
- a randomly generated installation identifier;
- the Instagram profile name transformed into a one-way hash; and
- technical error information, browser context and diagnostic details when a failure occurs.
The extension does not send downloaded photos, videos or media files as telemetry.
How information is used
Information is used only to operate downloads, measure aggregate feature usage, diagnose errors, prevent abuse of the telemetry endpoint and improve Insta Harbor. It is not sold and is not used for advertising, credit decisions or unrelated purposes.
Service providers
Telemetry is submitted to an Insta Harbor endpoint hosted on Cloudflare Workers, which validates and forwards permitted events to Google Analytics or Sentry. These providers process data under their own privacy terms. The endpoint does not store downloaded media.
Retention and control
Local settings remain in browser storage until the user changes them, clears extension data or removes the extension. Telemetry retention is governed by the configured Google Analytics and Sentry retention settings. Users can stop future processing by uninstalling the extension. Privacy questions or deletion requests may be sent through the publisher contact address displayed on the Insta Harbor Chrome Web Store listing.
Security, children and changes
Reasonable safeguards are used to limit transmitted data and protect the telemetry endpoint. Insta Harbor is not directed to children under 13. This policy may be updated when the extension or its data practices change; the date at the top identifies the latest version.
